⚠️ Monkeypox (Mpox) virus essential shipping updates from our teams on the ground.
The situation is live and constantly changing, with the Mpox virus already impacting various regions globally, affecting shipping and crew safety. We expect this situation to become more serious and will provide additional information when it becomes available.
WEST AFRICA: No changes affecting vessels or crew have been reported, but it is recommended that crew members avoid city tours while at port for their safety.
CONGO: The country most affected by Mpox. Crew visits to the city are already restricted due to safety concerns related to the military, and now Mpox concerns are reinforcing these restrictions.
CHINA: Starting August 15th, arrivals from countries with confirmed Mpox infections must declare their condition to customs if they’ve been exposed or show symptoms like fever, headache, back pain, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, or rashes.
ARGENTINA: A vessel entered quarantine due to a crew member with symptoms compatible with Mpox. Tests have since come back negative, according to a statement from the health ministry.
