The All-India Federation of Dock Workers has announced an indefinite nationwide strike scheduled for August 28, 2024, due to ongoing issues with wage revision. This move could lead to substantial disruptions in port operations nationwide.
GAC reported that “If the strike goes ahead, it is expected to halt cargo handling at all 12 major ports, namely: Deendayal (Kandla), Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT), Mormugao, New Mangalore, Kochi, Ennore (Kamarajar), Chennai, VOC Tuticorin, Visakhapatnam, Paradip and Kolkata (including Haldia).”
