The shipping industry is moving from ‘dinosaur’ to cutting edge. The Mare Forum 2022 and its speakers gave that dinosaur a good prod into action this May, principally around decarbonisation, digitalisation, women in shipping and getting the younger generations interested in our sector. Our Commercial Director, Martaxelle Erussard, heard all about exactly how at the 5th Mare Forum held at the Beau-Rivage Geneva.
– The consensus on decarbonisation and digitalisation was that we need to initiate a unified and systematic approach to accelerate developments.
– When it came to how to encourage the next generation to join the industry, the forum came up with a bold challenge: Next year’s Mare Forum wants to raise visibility by including more of the younger generation and will ask for their feedback and thoughts on our industry. We are very curious to hear what they will have to say and suggest.
Although the maritime industry is slow to move, as Confucius said, ‘IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW SLOWLY YOU GO, AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT STOP’.
As always, we continue to move with the good winds, as individuals, companies and together as a sector to bring positive change and visibility.
A big thank you to Ioannis (Jannis) Kostoulas of the Mare Forum 2022, and to the speakers and panellists for sparking many positive and passionate discussions. We are looking forward to next year’s forum already.
