On a glorious day like today, it’s easy to see why you would choose to work in Geneva. When the sun isn’t shining, there are still plenty of reasons why Geneva is among the first choices for people working in shipping and trading. Our Commercial Director, Martaxelle Erussard, discussed some of the reasons why Geneva is a world-renowned shipping and trading hub when speaking as a panellist at Mare Forum on ‘Maritime Geneva and the world – Expansion’:
🏔 Quality of life – The mountains, the lake, income, work/life balance, short commute, health, education, personal security…the list could go on
⚖ Political stability – Switzerland is considered to have one of the most stable governments in the world
🏦 Shipping/trading infrastructure – Banks, compliance companies, regulators – all are present in our little city
⚓ Network – STSA (Swiss Trading & Shipping Association), Commodity Trading Advisory, The Propeller Club, WISTA SWITZERLAND, forums, conferences, company events
👩🎓 Qualified workforce – People from all over the world come to Geneva to work in the shipping and trading sectors and to study industry-relevant courses here at the University of Geneva and STSA
The breaks in the forum were clearly marked by a huge difference in volume… the sound of bubbling conversations and exchanges that reflected the need for such forums and dialogues. Thank you to Ioannis (Jannis) Kostoulas of Mare Forum and Yasmina Rauber of Yas Maritime for inviting MasOceans to take part as a panellist and for organising this fantastic event.
