Strait of Hormuz Update: Waterways reopens, navigation measures remain in place

24 June, 2026 – The Strait of Hormuz is open again. But normal operations have not yet returned.

According to the lastest JMIC advisory has reduced the regional threat level from SUBSTANTIAL to MODERATE following the reopening of the waterway.

Mine clearance activity remains underway and vessels should continue to plan passages with caution.

A confirmed mine location has been reported at: 26°24’34.920″N, 056°20’40.128″E

The International Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS) is currently advised to be avoided.

The recommended route remains the southern corridor through Omani territorial waters, confirmed clear of mines.

Naval presence, VHF hailing, routing adjustments and congestion should still be expected across the area.

The IMO has announced and Evacuation Plan for 𝟣𝟣,𝟢𝟢𝟢 Seafarers Stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. 

Masters are advised to consult NAVCENT NCAGS before passage. UKMTO remains available, while final routing decisions continue to rest with the vessel master.

The Strait is open, but operators should not expect normal routing conditions just yet.
