24 September, 2026 – Today, we celebrate World Maritime Day.

For nearly 80 years, the IMO has been building the framework for global shipping. More than 50 international conventions now shape maritime life around the world.

But this year, the focus is on what happens next.

From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence

A rule only makes a difference when it becomes action.

On board. In port. In day-to-day operations.

And, as the IMO reminds us this year, practice is ultimately about people: seafarers, port teams and those managing ship operations.
